A 53-year-old British man has been arrested following a Liverpool car crash that injured at least 47 fans celebrating Liverpool FC’s Premier League title.
The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. on Water Street in Liverpool city centre, moments after the team’s open-top victory bus had passed by. Emergency services, including police, fire crews, and an air ambulance, rushed to the scene.

Panic Erupts After Car Slams Into Celebrating Crowd
According to video footage and eyewitness accounts, a dark-coloured vehicle drove into fans gathered in the city centre before coming to a stop. People quickly surrounded the car, banging on its windows and trying to get to the driver before police intervened.
Merseyside Police said the driver, a white man from the Liverpool area, is in custody. Authorities are conducting a full investigation and urged the public not to speculate.

Liam Robinson, leader of Liverpool City Council, said the crash had “cast a very dark shadow” over an otherwise joyful celebration, and he praised emergency workers for their response.

Eyewitnesses Describe Chaos
Natasha Rinaldi, watching from a nearby building, said: “It was so loud. People sounded desperate. We saw the car had run over people. Then people tried to stop the driver and break into the car.”
Harry Rashid, who attended the parade with his wife and children, said, “We heard the pop, pop, pop of people being hit. It was horrible—you could hear the bumps as he went over them.”
Daniel Jones, 28, was standing nearby: “There were paramedics on their hands and knees treating the wounded. It was horrifying. People smashed the car’s back window and tried to pull the driver out. Police were holding them back.”
