    Man convicted of double murder after dismembered bodies found in suitcases at Clifton Suspension Bridge

    A man who murdered two people and tried to dispose of their dismembered remains in suitcases at Clifton Suspension Bridge has been convicted of the brutal double killing.

    Yostin Mosquera, 35, was found guilty today of murdering Paul Longworth and Albert Alfonso following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court. The jury rejected Mosquera’s claims that he acted out of fear and loss of self-control — a plea that the Crown Prosecution Service dismissed in favor of pursuing full murder charges.

    Mosquera, a Colombian national and adult performer, had previously admitted to the manslaughter of Mr Alfonso but denied murdering Mr Longworth. At trial, he claimed Mr Alfonso killed Mr Longworth first and that he then lost control and killed Mr Alfonso.

    Prosecutors argued this account was a lie, presenting evidence that showed Mosquera planned both killings. CCTV footage and employment records revealed Mr Alfonso was at work when Mr Longworth was killed. Forensic investigators also uncovered Mosquera’s internet search history, which included looking for a chest freezer prior to the murders.

    Miranda Jollie, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said the evidence made it impossible for the jury to accept Mosquera’s story. “With a comprehensive timeline mapped out, the weight of evidence stacked up against him and meant that the jury could be sure he was responsible for murdering both victims,” she said.

    On July 10, 2024, Mosquera was spotted on Clifton Suspension Bridge late at night carrying two large suitcases. A member of the public noticed blood leaking from one of them. When confronted, Mosquera fled, prompting police to respond and make the gruesome discovery of dismembered body parts inside the cases.

    A luggage tag linked the suitcases back to the victims’ flat in Shepherd’s Bush, London, where officers found their decapitated heads and remaining body parts stored in a chest freezer.

    Mosquera was arrested three days later outside Bristol Temple Meads Station. He was charged with two counts of murder and has now been convicted of both.

    Further Charges Possible Against Melbourne Childcare Worker Accused of Abuse

    Additional charges may be filed against a Melbourne childcare worker already facing more than 70 serious offences related to the alleged abuse of young children, a court has heard.

    Joshua Dale Brown, 26, was arrested in May and charged with a range of offences including sexual activity in the presence of a child under 16, sexual assault of a child under 16, and possession of child abuse material. He has not yet entered pleas to any of the charges and remains in custody.

    Mr Brown was initially scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on September 15. However, during a brief hearing on Tuesday, prosecutors requested an extension to prepare the hand-up brief of evidence.

    High-profile barrister Rishi Nathwani KC appeared on behalf of Mr Brown. He did not oppose the request and described the supporting affidavit submitted by police as “helpful and detailed,” highlighting the extensive investigatory work that remains.

    Mr Nathwani also noted that the detective leading the investigation indicated there could be further charges or amendments to the current ones.

    During the hearing, Mr Nathwani opposed a media request to access the charge sheets, arguing that the charges were still “in flux” and releasing them would be “unfair” and detrimental to the principles of natural justice.

    However, Magistrate Donna Bakos rejected the objection, stating there was no sufficient basis to keep the documents from the public.

    Mr Brown’s case became public on July 1 after a suppression order was lifted. Authorities allege he abused eight children between the ages of five months and two years.

    Victoria Police have since revealed that Brown worked at 23 childcare centres across Melbourne from January 2017 to May 2025. As a precaution, they have urged parents and carers to have up to 2,000 children tested for sexually transmitted infections.

    Police described the process of verifying Brown’s employment history as “extremely complex,” citing the lack of centralised records within the childcare sector.

    Acting Commander of Crime Command, Janet Stevenson, reaffirmed the force’s commitment to the investigation, calling it their “highest priority.”

    “We are working through a large amount of information,” she said. “I understand people may feel frustrated, but this is a rapidly evolving investigation. We encourage anyone impacted to seek support, and there are numerous services available.”

    Mr Brown is next scheduled to appear in court in February. The investigation remains ongoing.

    The incident occurred in the airport’s arrivals hall. Surveillance video appears to show the man standing near a two-year-old boy before suddenly grabbing the child by the legs and slamming him onto the floor.

    The footage then shows the man calmly stepping forward, putting on sunglasses, and extending his arms outward while the toddler lies motionless behind him.

    The child was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries, including skull and spinal fractures. Authorities have confirmed he is now in a stable condition, and there are no signs of brain damage.

    Police stated that the suspect was in transit at the airport and awaiting a connecting flight. During questioning, he reportedly said he could not explain his actions.

    The flight, which was headed to Kansas City, was delayed after the woman began loudly berating the passenger seated next to her, reportedly making derogatory remarks about the individual’s weight and appearance. According to eyewitnesses, the situation escalated when the disruptive passenger physically grabbed the other woman’s hair during the confrontation.

    “She kept yelling offensive comments and then suddenly pulled the woman’s hair,” said one fellow passenger. “It was shocking.”

    Flight attendants and other passengers attempted to calm the situation and separate the individuals involved. Despite efforts to de-escalate, the woman continued shouting profanities and refused to cooperate. Video footage captured her yelling explicit insults and claiming she had no interest in sitting next to the other passenger.

    “Yeah, I’m sorry! I didn’t want to sit next to a f***ing fat lady,” she was heard yelling. “You guys are already past the point of no return!”

    When asked to let go of the woman’s hair, the disruptive passenger insisted, “I’m not even touching her hair,” even as she was seen holding it.

    Another witness shared their experience: “When she first started saying stuff I called out ‘Why don’t you be nice?’ She turned around and called me ugly a few times and that I could never get a boyfriend or have sex. I looked at her and said, ‘I’ve been married for almost 20 years, lady.’”

    The woman continued to insult the passenger sitting beside her, yelling, “Look at this fat lady. Look at this fat a** b****. She can’t even, look, you can’t even see her stomach.” She added, “It’s horrible. Look at her outfit. Look at this fat a** b****. Hilarious. You can’t even show your mouth because you’re embarrassed.”

    She was eventually escorted off the aircraft on a gurney. Officials confirmed she was evaluated at a hospital before being transferred to the custody of the New York City Department of Correction, where she is facing charges of aggravated assault.

    “We commend our Team for their professionalism during the incident,” Southwest Airlines said in a statement.

    No injuries were reported, and the flight continued to its destination after the situation was resolved.

    Prosecutors also accused Freeman of breaking into his car and stealing over $1,100 worth of belongings, including his wallet, two backpacks, and two computers.

    At the time of her arrest, Freeman — a fourth-grade teacher at Ranger High-Tech Academy, just outside Cleveland — was placed on administrative leave. Though the stalking was unrelated to her job, North Ridgeville City Schools confirmed her suspension but declined further comment, stating they would fully cooperate with law enforcement.

    The courtroom turned tense when Freeman’s attorney, Michael Kinlin, interrupted Cuyahoga County Judge David Matia during sentencing, claiming the punishment was harsher than agreed upon.

    “We had an agreed sentence,” Kinlin argued.

    “You didn’t agree with me, Mr. Kinlin, and I am charged with sentencing,” Judge Matia shot back.

    When Kinlin tried to withdraw Freeman’s plea, Matia denied the request, calling out Kinlin for failing to discuss the sentencing terms beforehand.

    “Your bad practice is not my problem,” the judge said.

    Freeman received 18 months of probation, including seven days in the Cuyahoga County Jail, 90 days of GPS monitoring, and house arrest with work release. She must also undergo mental health counseling and is forbidden from contacting her ex.

    Originally facing charges of stalking, trespassing, theft, identity fraud, and theft of drugs, Freeman struck a plea deal reducing three felony charges and dismissing others. She ultimately pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, and possessing criminal tools.

    “I will take steps necessary to move on from this incident, and you will not see me back here again,” Freeman promised the judge before learning her fate.

    “The wife’s a true one — my wife better do that for me too,” a bystander said.

    “I was actually happy to see the wife jump in for the husband. I thought that was great,” added another.

    Woolworths confirmed the incident, stating, “There’s no place for violence like this in our stores,” and said they are cooperating fully with police investigations.

    During a search of the vehicle, police uncovered a semi-automatic assault rifle, a handgun, face coverings, a jerry can filled with fuel, and ammunition. All items and firearms were seized, and a crime scene was established for forensic examination.

    Taskforce Falcon was launched by the State Crime Command in May 2025 to combat violent and organised crime across the Sydney metropolitan area.

    Detective Superintendent Jason Box, Commander of Taskforce Falcon, said the discovery highlights the taskforce’s proactive approach to crime prevention.

    He praised the swift actions of the officers involved, noting that the early success of Taskforce Falcon reinforces the importance of visible and preemptive policing.

    A Sydney shooting believed to be gang-related has left two men critically injured — one an alleged associate of the Alameddine crime network, and the other a solicitor thought to be an innocent victim.

    The broad daylight attack occurred about 5:10 p.m. on Sunday evening, when a white Toyota HiLux ute was ambushed while stopped at a red light on Church Street in Granville, beneath the M4 overpass — near the border of Granville and Parramatta, in Western Sydney.

    Victims Identified in Sydney Shooting

    Dawood Zakaria, an alleged associate of the Alameddine crime gang, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and is currently fighting for his life in critical condition. Sylvan Singh, a solicitor with no known links to criminal activity, was shot in the arm and leg. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

    Two other men who were also in the vehicle at the time were uninjured.
