    Ute Crash in Paddock Leads Police to Fatal Richmond Hit-And-Run Suspect

    A 41-year-old man has faced court over the weekend charged with a fatal hit-and-run in Sydney’s north-west that claimed the life of a young man more than a week ago.

    The investigation began on the evening of Sunday, 16 November 2025. At approximately 7:45 pm, emergency services were called to Old Kurrajong Road, Richmond, after a passing motorist spotted a man lying about three meters from the roadway.

    The motorist stopped to render aid to the 23-year-old victim until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts, the man tragically died at the scene.

    Officers from the Hawkesbury Police Area Command established a crime scene, with the Crash Investigation Unit determining that the man had been struck by a vehicle that allegedly failed to stop.

    Police uncovered a crucial link to the incident approximately one hour after the victim was found.

    Emergency services were called to a paddock off Kurmond Road, North Richmond, following reports that a Nissan Navara utility had veered off the road and crashed into bushland.

    The driver, a 41-year-old man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment. Police seized the vehicle for forensic examination and established a secondary crime scene.

    Arrest and Charges

    Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended a home in McGraths Hill at about 5:45 pm last Friday (21 November) and arrested the 41-year-old man.

    He was taken to Windsor Police Station and charged with five serious offences:

    • Fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death.
    • Dangerous driving occasioning death (drive manner dangerous).
    • Dangerous driving occasioning death (drive under influence).
    • Negligent driving (occasioning death).
    • Drive vehicle under influence of alcohol.

    Court Appearance

    The man was refused bail by police and appeared at the Local Bail Division Court on Saturday (22 November).

    As the matter is now before the courts, no further police information is expected at this stage.

    Two males, including a teenager, have faced court after being charged over a drive-by shooting in Bossley Park last Friday that involved an automatic weapon.

    ​The investigation began early Friday morning (21 November), when emergency services were called to a home on Aberdeen Street, Bossley Park, at approximately 6:30 am.

    ​Officers attached to the Fairfield City Police Area Command discovered that several shots had been fired into a residence from an Audi sedan. While occupants were home at the time, no injuries were reported.

    ​High-Powered Weapons Seized

    ​Following the shooting, the getaway vehicle—an Audi sedan—was found crashed and abandoned at the nearby intersection of Mimosa and Prairie Vale Road.

    ​Police searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered an automatic firearm, which was seized for forensic testing.

    ​A subsequent raid on a home in Fairfield West later that afternoon uncovered more weaponry, with police allegedly locating a shortened calibre rifle, ammunition, and multiple mobile phones.

    ​Arrests and Charges

    ​Detectives, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a series of operations on Friday resulting in two arrests:

    • A 22-year-old man was arrested at the Fairfield West property at 1:30 pm Friday.
    • A 16-year-old boy was arrested during a vehicle stop on Camden Valley Way, Leppington, at 6:15 pm Friday.

    ​A further search warrant was executed early Saturday morning at a home on River Mint Avenue, Leppington, where police seized additional clothing and ammunition.

    ​Court Appearances

    ​Both the man and the teenager were refused bail by police. They appeared before the courts on Saturday (22 November)—the man at the Local Bail Division Court and the teenager at a children’s court.

    ​They faced serious charges, including:

    • ​Firing a firearm at a dwelling (organized criminal activity).
    • ​Participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
    • ​(For the teenager) Being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner.

    Police inquiries are continuing.
