Two males, including a teenager, have faced court after being charged over a drive-by shooting in Bossley Park last Friday that involved an automatic weapon.
The investigation began early Friday morning (21 November), when emergency services were called to a home on Aberdeen Street, Bossley Park, at approximately 6:30 am.
Officers attached to the Fairfield City Police Area Command discovered that several shots had been fired into a residence from an Audi sedan. While occupants were home at the time, no injuries were reported.
High-Powered Weapons Seized
Following the shooting, the getaway vehicle—an Audi sedan—was found crashed and abandoned at the nearby intersection of Mimosa and Prairie Vale Road.
Police searched the vehicle and allegedly discovered an automatic firearm, which was seized for forensic testing.
A subsequent raid on a home in Fairfield West later that afternoon uncovered more weaponry, with police allegedly locating a shortened calibre rifle, ammunition, and multiple mobile phones.
Arrests and Charges
Detectives, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, executed a series of operations on Friday resulting in two arrests:
- A 22-year-old man was arrested at the Fairfield West property at 1:30 pm Friday.
- A 16-year-old boy was arrested during a vehicle stop on Camden Valley Way, Leppington, at 6:15 pm Friday.
A further search warrant was executed early Saturday morning at a home on River Mint Avenue, Leppington, where police seized additional clothing and ammunition.
Court Appearances
Both the man and the teenager were refused bail by police. They appeared before the courts on Saturday (22 November)—the man at the Local Bail Division Court and the teenager at a children’s court.
They faced serious charges, including:
- Firing a firearm at a dwelling (organized criminal activity).
- Participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
- (For the teenager) Being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner.
