Police are searching for a mother after the body of a newborn baby was discovered in a bin in Sydney’s west, in a case that has left investigators holding serious concerns for the woman’s welfare.
Emergency services were called to Harrow Road, Auburn, at 11:20am on Monday following reports that a baby had been found in a garbage bin.
NSW Police have established a crime scene at the location and are urging the baby’s mother to come forward.

“As investigations continue, police hold serious concerns for the welfare of the baby’s mother,” police said in a statement. “Officers are urging the mother to attend her nearest hospital to receive urgent care for herself.”
Auburn is a densely populated, multicultural suburb roughly 16km west of the Sydney CBD. Harrow Road runs through the heart of the suburb near Auburn’s town centre.
