Australian passengers stranded aboard the virus-hit cruise ship MV Hondius have finally begun evacuation efforts after days of uncertainty, fear, and growing international concern over a deadly hantavirus outbreak linked to the vessel.
The luxury expedition ship became the centre of a global health emergency after multiple passengers reportedly died and several others became infected during the voyage, forcing authorities to quarantine the vessel and launch a large-scale international evacuation operation.
