A Melbourne neighbourhood dispute over rubbish bins has escalated into a police matter after a mother-of-three was filmed allegedly using a chainsaw during a heated confrontation outside a shared driveway.

The incident, which aired on A Current Affair, involved two neighbouring households who had reportedly been arguing over the placement of wheelie bins at a shared block of units.

Footage shown by the program appears to show a woman named Danielle walking toward several bins with a chainsaw while wearing heels and a dress. The bins had reportedly been chained to trees along a fence line beside the shared driveway.

In the video, a neighbour named Jolon can be heard yelling as Danielle appears to cut through the bin handles and chains.

The confrontation reportedly followed an ongoing disagreement about where the bins should be kept.

According to the reports, Danielle claimed the bins were blocking access to her car. Jolon, who lives in the front unit with her family, said the bins could not be kept elsewhere without blocking access to their garage.

The dispute had allegedly been building for some time before the chainsaw incident.

A Current Affair reported that notes had previously been left on the bins. The bins were later chained in place, which appears to have triggered the confrontation captured on video.

Jolon told the program she became frightened during the incident and claimed Danielle grabbed her arm while cutting through the bin handles.

Danielle, however, appeared to argue that the bins had been placed in a way that blocked access through the shared driveway.

The footage has since gained attention online, with many viewers shocked by how quickly a seemingly ordinary bin dispute appeared to spiral.

Victoria Police are reportedly looking into the matter.

No charges have been confirmed in the available reports.

The incident has sparked wider discussion about neighbour disputes and how minor disagreements can escalate when communication breaks down.

While the footage has gone viral because of the unusual chainsaw moment, the dispute appears to centre on a practical but contentious issue: access to a shared driveway.

Neighbour disputes over parking, bins, noise and shared spaces are common, but this case has drawn attention because of the extreme nature of the alleged confrontation.

The original footage was published by A Current Affair under the title “Bin dispute escalates into chainsaw clash with neighbour”.
